E3 Say Goodbye After 28 years

After nearly three decades of being the premier annual event in the gaming world, E3 will no longer grace our calendars. The organizers of E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, have officially declared the cessation of its operations. This announcement comes as no surprise, given the cancellation of the last few editions of the iconic Los Angeles fair.

In a statement shared on X/Twitter and reported by the Washington Post, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) expressed its decision to bring an end to the Electronic Entertainment Expo after more than twenty years. The statement reads, ‘After more than two decades of serving as a central showcase for the video game industry, ESA has decided to end E3.’

the iconic gaming event, officially shuts down its operations. After cancellations in 2020, a digital attempt in 2021, and another cancellation in 2022, the potential for an in-person return in 2023 was squashed. The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) cited challenges and uncertainties, marking the end of E3’s more than two-decade legacy in showcasing the video game industry.”

While E3 will no longer be a focal point for the gaming community, the ESA assures that it will maintain its commitment to advocating for its member companies and the industry workforce. Despite the conclusion of E3, the ESA remains dedicated to supporting the positive cultural and economic impact generated by the video game industry on a daily basis.”
