THE GENTLEMEN REVIEW

The Gentlemen, the famous 2019 movie, returns, but this time in the form of a series. Although it doesn’t feature the same actors as the film, this series boasts the same director and creator, Guy Ritchie, along with an exceptional cast that accompanies him in this 8-episode story.

The Gentlemen series is based on the 2019 movie of the same name. But, do you need to watch the movie to understand the series? The answer is a resounding no. While the series is set in the same universe and explores the underworld within British aristocracy, it tells its own unique story unrelated to the film. With that clarified, let’s delve into the series. Is it worth watching? Absolutely. Guy Ritchie, along with Netflix, delivers an immensely entertaining production filled with intrigue, sporadic action scenes that, although few, still pack excitement, and the quintessential British humor seen in the movie. While there are some downsides, such as Daniel Ings’ character (Freddy), who comes off as predictable and lacks depth, particularly in the early episodes of the series, it’s one of the few drawbacks. Overall, it’s a series that you’re bound to enjoy.
