Venom The Last Dance Review

Sony Pictures and superheroes haven’t had the best track record lately. Films like Morbius, Madame Web, and even Venom 2 are examples of some of Sony’s struggles with its superhero universe. However, this time, Sony Pictures, alongside Tom Hardy and director Kelly Marcel, brings us what might be Hardy’s final appearance as Venom. The question is, though: Is it worth watching, or just another entry in Sony’s universe?

To get straight to the point, Venom: The Last Dance (or Venom 3, whichever you prefer) is definitely an improvement over Venom 2. So, you can breathe easy knowing this film is one you can enjoy at the theater. However, Venom 3 leans much more toward comedy than action or Marvel comic-based events. It feels almost like a pure comedy with some action, when it should be the other way around. So, if you’re going in as a fan of the comics, Venom’s lore, or even the symbiote storyline, this movie might leave you with a sense of emptiness. On the other hand, if you’re watching it purely for entertainment and as a Tom Hardy fan (like me), there’s a good chance you’ll enjoy it

With some plot inconsistencies, a screenplay that could use tightening, and CGI that doesn’t always hit the mark, Venom: The Last Dance isn’t a terrible movie. Yet it feels like a series with potential that never quite reaches its peak. Regardless, it’s a film worth watching because the main villain, while not heavily featured on-screen, has a comic history that, if respected, could offer much more in future installments.
